Dec 07--Christmas morning.
After getting the Jones' off to London on Christmas Eve, the Hayes'
settled down to make sure Santa wouldn't miss our house on his rounds
through Belgium. Christmas morning, Asa, Crockett, and Lexie
awoke to find that Santa had not forgotten them and that he'd lightened
his bag of goodies at our house.

Dec 07--Christmas with the Jones family 2007.
Our Christmas started a few days early, thanks to the arrival of Clay's
older sister and her family. After an overnight flight into
Brussels, Clay shepharded the Jones family onto the train and brought
them back to an eagerly awaiting household, including their oldest
daughter who had been staying with us since October.
After a
quick tour of the house, a few minutes to catch up, take some pictures,
and makes some quick plans, Clay took the Jones family to downtown Mons
to see the Grand Place in its holiday splendor. The Christmas
market and seasonal ice skating rink were in full swing, but it looks
like the group most enjoyed their stop at a friterie where they sampled
some famous Belgian frites and tried out the dipping sauces...

Eventually the group realized it was a lot colder in Belgium than
Texas, so it was time to return to the warmth of the Hayes house, have
a little Christmas dinner, enjoy a fire in the hearth, and exchange
some gifts before their travels resumed the next morning.

A great
evening was had by all, and by the time we were all tucked in bed, we
were thankful for safe travel, family, and a once in a lifetime chance
to share a holiday in Belgium.
